Sennheiser ha pubblicato il firmware 1.4 per Spectera e ha introdotto un Command Button collegabile tra il bodypack SEK e il microfono. Il comando può attivare il mute oppure richiamare un routing talkback preconfigurato sulla Base Station. Il pulsante può funzionare in modalità momentanea o a scatto.
Il firmware aggiunge anche dati di monitoraggio su segnale, qualità del collegamento, batteria, interferenze e livelli audio. Sennheiser has released firmware 1.4 for Spectera and introduced a Command Button that connects between the SEK bodypack and the microphone. The control can mute the microphone or recall a talkback route configured on the Base Station. It can operate as either a momentary or latching switch.
The firmware also adds monitoring for signal strength, link quality, battery, interference and audio levels. According to the manufacturer, the firmware is available to download and the button, product number 701014, is available to order. Those points appear in the announcement and available documentation. We have not independently checked commercial availability, operational behaviour or reliability under show conditions.

Nei sistemi wireless tradizionali il routing è gestito dalla postazione audio. Il Command Button trasferisce una parte di quel controllo all’utente che indossa il trasmettitore. La pressione può silenziare il microfono oppure selezionare un percorso audio destinato al talkback.
In teatro la funzione può essere utile quando un performer, un presentatore o un operatore deve comunicare con il reparto audio senza inviare il segnale al mix di sala. La sua adozione richiede però una procedura definita: chi può attivarla, quale uscita riceve il talkback, quale feedback conferma lo stato e come si gestiscono pressioni involontarie.
In conventional wireless systems, routing is managed from the audio position. The Command Button transfers part of that control to the person wearing the transmitter. A press can mute the microphone or select an audio path assigned to talkback.
In theatre, the function may help when a performer, presenter or operator needs to reach the audio department without sending the signal to the house mix. Adoption still requires a defined procedure: who may activate it, which output receives talkback, what feedback confirms the state and how accidental presses are handled.

Anche l’integrazione software ha riserve documentate: Sennheiser segnala che il livello di accesso API dedicato a terze parti non è ancora implementato e che le scritture simultanee da più client non sono completamente testate. Non è un giudizio sul pulsante, ma è un limite da conoscere quando Spectera entra in sistemi di controllo più ampi.
We have not tested the Command Button in a theatre production. Its ergonomics under a costume, the risk of accidental presses, the clarity of feedback for the performer and its behaviour inside an already busy cue and communications workflow still need testing.
The software integration also carries documented caveats: Sennheiser states that a dedicated third-party API access level is not yet implemented and that simultaneous writes from multiple clients are not fully tested. This is not a verdict on the button, but it matters when Spectera becomes part of a larger control system.
